Woman killed partner over Bruce Springsteen ban
A WOMAN stabbed her de facto husband to death after he stopped her playing her favourite Bruce Springsteen CD.
Karen Lee Cooper told arresting police: "I couldn't even play Bruce Springsteen on my stereo - can you believe that? Can you believe that?"
She later again told police: "I mean, who doesn't like Bruce Springsteen?"
"I'm 49 years old and I want to play my own music."
In the Supreme Courty in Brisbane today, Cooper, 50, was jailed for eight years.
She pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Kevin Lee Watson on July 8, 2006.
She was originally charged with murder but the Crown accepted a manslaughter plea on the basis she had no intention to kill.
The court heard Cooper stabbed Watson through the aorta after they had been drinking at their Cedar Grove home, south of Brisbane.
-I find this article rather freaky, to think that someone would go to that extreme just because she couldn’t listen to her favorite CD. This made me ponder on our capability to kill; even those who would not harm a fly are capable of committing such crime. It is definitely a frightening thought, that at the end of the day we have an instinct of an animal. A dog will always bite back when it is being abuse, unfortunately that applies to us too. So it’s fair to say that emotions can be very dangerous, especially anger and it could cause us to do things that we never thought we are capable of doing.
Concept development:
After her mum died, she had no place to go. She roam the street looking for food to survive.
The villagers aren't sympathetic towards her because she was born without a father. They treated her
badly, leaving her with nothing to eat and constantly abusing her. Till one day when an old lady told
her that her existence is a waste, the little girl snap. While the whole villagers are asleep, she pour
oil around every houses in the village and burn the whole village down.
